Majesty, Destruction & Eternal Slumber
for 2 Violins, Viola, Cello and Percussion
Written by Sam Gillespie
'Majesty, Destruction and Eternal Slumber is inspired by my thoughts as I saw the dragon sculpture by Vanessa Yeoman. The majestic creature with all its power to destroy in eternal slumber, never to wake. But it lives and wakes in our imagination and there it roams free, ruler of its domain; with fire it disintegrates all who oppose its will with winding strings of flame.’
Per Luce
for EWI (Peter Anthony Smith) and vibraphone
Written by Cameron LamWritten for a good friend and trapeze artist, Luke, for his birthday. It is as much written for how he moves, as for the interplay of light sources.
Off Duty Metronomes
Off Duty Metronomes for percussion duo (Associate artist Claire Edwardes)
Written by David ReastonReaston's duo is composed for open instrumentation. This particular interpretation utilises small instruments and found objects, but can be arranged for large or melodic instruments. The work consists of three repetitions with varying tempi; the fastest being the last section.
Electro Fractal Gamelan
for solo vibraphone and tape
written by Peggy PoliasElectro Fractal Gamelan was written for the Kammerklang development project Worship the Machine, which paired music with trapeze. Worship the Machine visited the idea of androids playing nostalgic music in some kind of wasteland.
Anima: Soul of the Land (Nissa Revane)
written by Cameron LamNissa Revane draws her power from an instinctual connection to her homeland, granting her dreams and visions. Her connection even allows the land itself to come alive to guide and defend her. But something sinister has been trapped inside the world, and all Nissa can hear now is it looming, ready to break free.
