‘For Alice’ is my absolute favourite composition in my collection. It has flavours of the beloved ‘Für Elise’ by Beethoven and portrays a sensitive character with subtle interest amidst seemingly familiar passages. Written for 5 octave marimba, this is an intermediate work that calls on the performer to draw on their expressive skills. The phrasing is varied throughout and requires consistent momentum within sections.
